In the previous post about anime, I gave plenty of reasons for you to seriously pick anime and start watching it. But if you are a newbie to the Anime world and don't know where to start, don't worry this article will help you.

There are plenty of genres for you to choose from and start watching. The list includes the evergreen Romance, Rom-com, Action & Adventure, Mystery, Horror, Thriller, Sci-Fi and even Cooking genre. Yes, you have heard that right! Whatever genre you want, there are plenty of shows to watch. So without further ado let's get started.

1) Death Note

One day a normal high school student named "Light Yagami" finds the "Death Note", a mysterious black notebook that can kill anyone as long as the user knows both the target's name and face and after that his high school life and the whole Japan changes for good (?). To know more about this mysterious book, grab some popcorn and dig in to get the adrenaline of a lifetime while watching this detective crime thriller!

2) Attack on Titan

The main protagonists of this series were enjoying their lives as usual in the restricted space they have but one day suddenly man-eating titans appear on their faces and tragedy happens. Will Eren Jaeger along with Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert recover from the tragedy and help save humanity or is there a bigger scheme of things awaiting them? Only one way to find out! Go and enjoy this epic Action Thriller!!

3) My Hero Academia

In a superhero world where children get superpowers (known as quirks) at an early age and dream of becoming heroes, there is one child who doesn't get his so-called superpower and gets dejected (yeah you guessed it right, he's our main protagonist) but still wants to perceive dream of becoming a hero. To know what circumstances await him you need to go and watch!

4) Lovely Complex

Here's some Rom-Com for you if you are into it. Lovely Complex is one of the best anime shows to be made under this category. As far as the story goes the main protagonists, Koizumi Risa and Ootani Atsushi labeled as a comedy duo by their homeroom teacher due to their personalities and the stark difference in their heights, struggle to find love for themselves. What happens next is for you to know!

5) Your Lie In April

Hmph...Where to begin? This is one of the best animated shows I would say. Starting from animation to the background score, everything is top-notch. The story is of Kosei Arima, the main protagonist who is a piano prodigy dominates various music competitions and becomes famous among child musicians, but also controversial. When his mother Saki dies suddenly, he has a mental breakdown while performing at a piano recital; this results in him no longer being able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing is otherwise perfectly fine. How he overcomes this problem is the rest of the story with a twist that slowly reveals itself towards the end. Indeed, this is one of the saddest anime I have ever watched. I don't recommend this for "Re-Watch" because it hurts terribly to do it! Go and experience it for yourself to understand!!

6) Assassination Classroom

One day you wake up and realize that the moon is reduced to crescent shape after a monster destroyed 70% of it and later you realize that he wants to teach you. Sure this sounds crazy and dangerous but this is the only option he gave to the humans. Will the junior high school students be successful in getting rid of this monster or is there more to the story here?

7) Food Wars!

Have you ever wondered how a great reputed chef would be in their early days? Well, this show is unique as it teaches you important lessons in life through cooking. Enjoy the delicious food and the journey of Yukihira Soma who aspires to become the best chef and surpass his father's culinary skills. Surely it's not that easy! There is more to the story which you will understand if watch this epic show on cooking!

8) Another

If you like mystery horror shows, you will definitely love this. As far as the story goes, in 1972, Misaki, a popular student of Yomiyama North Middle School's class 3-3, suddenly died partway through the school year. Devastated by the loss, the students and teacher behaved like Misaki was still alive, leading to a strange presence in the graduation photo. The class is soon caught up in a strange phenomenon, in which students and their relatives begin to die in often gruesome ways. Realizing that these deaths are related to the "Misaki of 1972", a yearly calamity that has struck almost every class 3-3 since 1972, Koichi and Mei should figure out how to stop it before it kills any more of their classmates or them.

9) The Promised Neverland

You are in an orphanage with fellow children accompanying you in your joyful activities, life has never been better: with gourmet food; plush beds; clean clothes; games; and the love from their "Mama", the caretaker, what else do you want? Well, life isn't always merrier as they say. There are some hidden dark truths begging themselves to be found. What happens after the happy-go-lucky children find out the real truth is the rest of the story. (Don't underestimate this edge of the seat thriller show!)

10) Hyouka

This is one of those shows where you crave for more episodes at the end than at the beginning. This is unique in its own terms. There are elements of literature, culture, and mystery embedded in this beautiful story. At the request of his older sister, student Hotaro Oreki joins Kamiyama High School's Classic Literature Club to stop it from being abolished, joined by fellow members Eru Chitanda, Satoshi Fukube, and Mayaka Ibara. They begin to solve various mysteries, both to help with their club and at Eru's requests.
